Omobono is a social networking/exchange platform rooted in Catholic principles of subsidiarity and solidarity. We are a free resource for your parish or church and offer a safe, secure venue for the exchange of goods, services, and ideas to fellow Christians and all people of good will!
The main service we provide is a classified ads feature that allows you to search for and post goods, services, or prayer requests. Looking for a babysitter? Need a new bike? How about someone to change a lightbulb? You can find it on Omobono!
An integral component to the classifieds system is a social network that provides a complement to one’s faith-based community or neighborhood complete with all the bells and whistles of a major social network site like Facebook without the danger of having your account removed because of expressing Christian values.
Saint Homobonus is the patron saint of business people, tailors, shoemakers, and clothworkers, as well as of Cremona, Italy. He was a merchant from Cremona, northern Italy. Born Omobono Tucenghi, he was a married layman who believed that God had allowed him to work in order that he would be able to support people living in a state of poverty. His name is derived from the Latin homo bonus (“good man”).
We take the name of our patron to help remind us constantly of our goal of directing trade to the common good.
